These are persons whose exposure to the Gamma World has not resulted in significant mutations. They look just like human beings who lived before the Shadow Years.

Character Traits[]

When playing a Pure Strain Human a player should keep the following in mind;

  • They can defend, but never attack in Mental Combat.
  • They tend to be healthier, more attractive, and social then humanoids.
  • They have a better chance of figuring out the workings of artifacts.
  • They are better able to receive aid from medical equipment.
  • They will be recognized (sometimes obeyed) by Robots and Security Systems which will attack or impede others.
  • They won't normally be attacked by Robots other than Military or Security types.
  • Cybernetic Installations (CIs) and Think Tanks not programmed to injure humans will offer them any help in their power.
  • They don't suffer mutations from any source during play. It is possible for offspring of Pure Strain Humans, who have been exposed to radiation or mutagen, to be born Humanoid.
  • Their ability to fight while unarmed is limited in comparison to Mutant Animals, and some Humanoids.

After the Social Wars[]

Pure Strain Human populations can come from a variety of sources. From refugees of the Social Wars, Cloning, or CEEPs. Pure Strain Humans, having not developed adaptations to the hostile environment of the world became threatened, had it not been for their access to advanced technology, and sense of community they may have become extinct. The efforts of forces calling themselves Purist also helped solidify the human position, eliminating mutant competition, and defending settlements from other 'abominations'. In time small break away groups developed into the Knights of Genetic Purity. This is not to say all communities owe their existence to the Knights, only that without them, it is likely that humanity (in this form) would have perished from the world long ago.

Pure Strain Society[]

Pure Strain societies are diverse ranging from tribal clandoms, to hidden cities of technological wonder.

Factions[]

The following Factions are associated with Pure Strain Humans.

Purist[]

The Purists consider themselves a knightly order devoted to preserving the "purity" of the human race by stamping out all Humanoids and protecting the pure. They don't consider Mutated Animals as "impure" only inferior. They prefer to fight with Tech Level II weapons but will often carry at least one energy weapon such as a laser rifle. They prefer to fight mounted and often operate in mercenary bands of 20 to 200 purist that hire out often if the chance to slay humanoids presents it's self. Their symbol is a Red Square with tilted scales on it, a reminder of their sacrifice, and the odds ever against them.
